This presentation will cover the installation, maintenance and interactive operational requirement of energy storage systems (ESS). NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, will be adopting the new Article 706, Energy Storage Systems, and the new requirements of installation. Through a manufacturers' perspective, the presentation will clarify what ESS are, the various types available, and what safety requirements should be followed while installing, maintaining, operating each. An overview of the different types of ESS will be covered and the impact to the electrical grid when used.

Jack Lyons, National Electrical Manufacturers Association Jack Lyons is the Northeast Field Rep for NEMA. He holds a BAS in Occupational Education, a Master Electrical License in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and an Associate's Degree in Engineering. Jack is a member of the Board of Directors for the Western Massachusetts Chapter of the IAEI, previously Secretary. He was a licensed Vocational Instructor, OSHA trainer, and Code Provider Instructor for Massachusetts.
