Fire Safety Education--Bringing Children and Older Adults Together to Learn
Annmarie Pickett, Worcester Fire Department

Attendees will learn about creative ways to bring fire safety education into the classroom by using specific reading books supported by lesson plans that connect to the common core standards. Included will be details on a new Worcester, MA, program that brought 2nd graders to the senior center for story time and paired children with older adults who helped them develop home escape plans after reading the book "No Dragons for Tea" together. Learn more about this creative way to bring together two at-risk populations using NFPA's Remembering When Program and Learn Not To Burn curriculum in your community.
