Fire Protection for Flammable and Combustible Liquids Storage - NFPA 13 or NFPA 30?
Robert Benedetti, National Fire Protection Association
Audrey Goldstein, AKF Group

Generally, the design parameters for sprinkler system protection of flammable and combustible liquids in storage and mercantile occupancies is governed by NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code. However, there are situations where sprinkler systems designed to NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, can serve just as well. The question is, when and under what circumstances? This session will explore the differences between NFPA 13 and NFPA 30, as they relate to the design of appropriate fire protection for the storage of flammable and combustible liquids of various types; in various packaging systems; and in both palletized and rack modes of storage.
