This Best Practices session will provide an overview of the US Chemical Safety Board (CSB) investigation and recommendations process. The CSB is an independent federal agency that investigates chemical incidents and makes recommendations to improve safety across the industry. One of the key ways that the CSB makes lasting safety changes is by issuing recommendations to NFPA to either issue new standards or improve existing ones based on CSB findings. This session will highlight such changes made by NFPA, the broader impacts of these code revisions, and ways that NFPA and CSB can work together in the future to creating lasting safety change.
