This presentation will address the use of NFPA 1 and NFPA 101 to prepare your facility for a disaster, as well as the importance of implementing NFPA 1600 and NFPA 1561 and creating an incident management team.

Orlando Hernandez, Texas Department of Public Safety Orlando P. Hernandez is the Life Safety Coordinator at the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) - Austin. Orlando joined TDEM in October 2014 from the NFPA, where he served as a Senior Emergency Specialist as well as Staff Liaison and specialist for emergency management, fire and explosion investigations, and pre-incident planning for fire departments. He also served as the administrator for the US Technical Advisory Group - Technical Committee 223, Societal Security for the International Organization for Standardization. Orlando began his career with the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office in 1992 as an Inspector I, and over his 12-year career was promoted to Program Manager for the Life Safety Inspection Division. In 2005, Orlando left to become the Bexar County Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Coordinator.
