This panel discussion will feature four physicians participating in the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Presidential Task Force. The mandate of the Task Force is to assess the potential to contribute to a guidance document for assessing the fitness-for-duty of industrial firefighters. Included in the discussion will be such topics as the benefits of preventive activities for firefighters, task-specific metabolic data obtained on firefighters participating in training activities during fire school, and practical experience in implementing an industrial firefighting fitness-for-duty standard.
