Deployment of distributed generation utilizing renewable energy systems along with conventional power sources are driving the evaluation and installation of microgrid systems. From energy storage to system integration and control, microgrid systems can seem confusing and difficult to understand. In addition, determining the applicable codes and standards requirements for compliance can be a challenge. This session will present the basics of a microgrid system and practical considerations, providing examples of successful installation experiences.

Chad Kennedy, Schneider Electric Chad Kennedy is the Manager of Industry Standards for Power Equipment and is a registered professional engineer in South Carolina. He has been with Schneider Electric/Square D for over 25 years and is responsible for managing company activities relating to product standards for renewable energies and power equipment products. Chad currently serves on NEC Code Making Panel 13 and on numerous UL STPs, CSA Technical Subcommittees, IEEE PES Switchgear Committees, and NEMA technical committees for power equipment.
