The Joint Commission establishes requirements for health care institutions to conduct fire drills. This session will provide participants a step-by-step approach including initial drill planning, drill event, scoring, and after-action reporting that meets and exceeds regulatory standards.

Rickey Nelson, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Rick Nelson, MPA, CHPA-L, CPP, is Safety and Security Manager for the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and has 37 years of healthcare safety, security, and emergency preparedness experience. He is a Lifetime Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator and a Certified Protection Professional. He was awarded the International Healthcare Security and Safety Foundation's Faculty Award in 2008. His department received the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Program of Distinction Award in 2014. Rick is a member of the Washington State Healthcare Safety Council and he just received the Washington State Healthcare Safety Council's Lifetime Achievement award in July 2015.
Rusty Thurman, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Rusty Thurman is the Program Assistant for the Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness Department of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. He provides expertise in planning, organizing, and documenting all phases of activities of the department.
